Video mapping on the magnificent Castello della Zisa
For UNESCO’s White Night, we celebrated the history of one of Palermo’s most important heritage sites with projection mapping on its façade. The work depicted the changes to its structure, which in turn reflected the events that shaped the city.
Built during the reigns of the Norman kings William I and William II and completed in 1167, Castello della Zisa has witnessed centuries of change. Closely tied to the history of Palermo, its story unfolds through symbols that evoke some of its defining moments.

Symbolism and history
The first part recreates the atmosphere of an earthly paradise that characterised the Genoardo park, while the appearance of Anna’s gravestone and its inscription in four languages recalls the value of Norman multiculturalism. Then come the years of fortification, with the addition of battlements, and the devils from the famous fresco, alluding to a well-known local legend. Abandonment and collapse follow, before restoration and rebirth culminate in a celebration of colour marking the site’s recognition as World Heritage.
