Video mapping on Monreale Cathedral

This ambitious projection mapping show tells the story of Monreale Cathedral across the façade of the UNESCO site, beginning with its founding legend and the Norman king William II.

Created for the feast of the Madonna del Popolo, the performance celebrated the architecture and mosaics of this remarkable Norman monument, its dedication to the Virgin Mary and the deep-rooted Marian devotion of the Monreale community.

The story of a masterpiece

ODD Agency brings to life the founding legend of Monreale Cathedral and the Norman king at its heart. The project explores the history of one of the landmarks on the UNESCO route. Golden particles cascaded across the church façade like mosaic tiles, telling the story of this emblem of Arab-Norman heritage through images and sound. It reflects the research behind every ODD project and the care we bring to interpreting monuments that are part of our shared world heritage.
