360° Video Mapping

The title, Sidera Aurea, refers to the stars that feature in Giotto’s work. The video mapping responds to the Salone’s architecture and paintings, with projections spanning the ceiling and frescoed walls.

A journey through the centuries of the Salone at Palazzo della Ragione, exploring both its history and its emotional resonance. Rather than offering a literal historical account, the video mapping evokes key events before bringing back, in its finale, the vivid, Giottesque colours of the original, now-lost fresco cycle.

THE ASTROLOGICAL NARRATIVE OF THE FRESCO CYCLE

Sidera Aurea draws on the astrological stories and imagery of the fresco cycle. Projected images and architecture respond to one another, tracing the passage of time through the changing seasons.

Colour, music and projections brought the Salone’s frescoes to life. The audience was immersed in a world of physics and astronomy, as if inside a vast time machine travelling between the present and a remarkable past.
